Shipwright's Disease

Clutch has problems. As in, no disengagement..something that's not fixable with the engine in the frame. So....

The Plan so far:

Fully disassemble the bike
Clean everything
Beadblast & powdercoat the frame & swingarm
Degrease & polish all engine/trans components
Tend to the clutch problem, perhaps upgrade to the deep spline variety
Drill out the broken bolt on the shock mount
Replace the shock/springs
Fit Lemans3-style rearsets (and figure out how to make the rear drum work with such an arrangement..or live with 1 brake. How squidly.)
Change timing chain w/new-style spring tensioner. Gears aren't worth $350 to me.
Replace cheesy generic ignition switch.
Add V7 Sport replica sidecovers. Somehow make the covers work with my T's toolboxes.

Maybe:

Swap a GSXR (or equivalent) front end, ala Ed Milich's lovely LeMans.
Aluminum tank. Painted black with bare aluminum at the 'knee scoops'
Corbin Gunfighter solo seat
Crazy HID headlight retrofit. High-beam only.

Progress:

-It's apart. And all over my apartment.
-Drilled out broken spring mounting bolt. Repaired the threads. Whew.
-Frame's black & beautiful again. Excellent job done by Farben Industrial Finishing. $165 to beadblast & powdercoat the frame & swingarm with a gloss black polyester.
-Twiddling my thumbs until the new house is ready. The quasi-garage will help immensely.
